Our 3rd-5th grade students have been working hard in PE this year. One of the activities is a fitness test called the PACER, a progressively challenging running test. Many of our students compete in the series of 3 tests in order to make it into the PACER Showcase, but only the top 14 girls and top 14 boys qualify. In December, we hosted our PACER Showcase with those qualifying students, and they were incredible! Our male champion was Cohen (2x champ), with Kellen and Braxtyn taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Our female champion was Mady (2x champ), with Riley (girl's school record holder) and Talia taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. This is a fun event that the school rallies around each year. We want to thank our CPO for the donation for t-shirts for each qualifying student, and a special thank you to Jeanette Linker for her continued monetary contribution to supply medals, and help the classroom teachers receive shirts.

December 12th, 2025- Today at Centennial Elementary School, the carbon monoxide detector sounded an alarm in the kitchen. We moved all staff and students out of the kitchen and into the gym. The Polo Fire Department was called, and they checked the kitchen. Through their investigation, it was found that our carbon monoxide was at the "end of its life" and was sounding for that reason. No carbon monoxide was detected. We have replaced the detector. Thank you to the Polo Fire Department and Polo Police Department for their help in protecting our students. This was complete before 7:46 a.m.

Aplington Spelling Bee
Nine contestants took to the stage on December 10, 2025, for Aplington Middle School’s
spelling bee. Spellers tackled words like talcum, guttural, and garishly. Seventh grader Asher
Weilacher clinched the win by correctly spelling repugnant, edging out Sebastian Dewey, who
became the runner-up. Asher will represent Polo at the regional spelling bee, which will be held
February 19, 2026, at Dixon High School. We wish Asher the best as he prepares for this year’s
competition.
