Our preschool has been exploring the theme of pumpkins this week in Miss Paige's room. We've integrated this exploration with motor skill and shape activities. Students have been using golf tees and rubber bands to transform pumpkins into Geoboards. This project allows children to gain sensory experience with the pumpkins while actively practicing gross and fine motor skills and shape recognition.

Parents, here's your friendly reminder! Packing lunches is one less thing to worry about! Free breakfast and lunch are available for every student in the Polo Community Unit School District for the entire year! Ensure your student is fueled and ready to learn every day. We hope to see them in the cafeteria!
🎃 Pumpkin Investigation Fun in Preschool!
Our preschoolers recently wrapped up an exciting Pumpkin Investigation packed with hands-on learning and exploration! Throughout this project, students practiced a variety of important skills, from estimation and making hypotheses to graphing and measuring with nonstandard units.
We dove deep into both the external and internal parts of a pumpkin, explored the pumpkin life cycle, and even conducted a sink-or-float science experiment to test our predictions. Along the way, students also strengthened their vocabulary by describing pumpkins with adjectives and sharing their observations with classmates.
To tie art into our investigation, the children created beautiful still-life pumpkin paintings and shape jack-o’-lanterns, showcasing their creativity and understanding of shapes and colors.
It was such a joy to see our young learners so engaged, curious, and excited throughout every activity. Their enthusiasm truly made this pumpkin project a memorable learning experience!
